Do you need to warm up before a run?
Yes! Always.
There is no question about it.
You might think that if you are walking some parts of your run it’s not as important.
Or if you are planning on doing an easy run it’s not that necessary.
Or I’m not that serious about my running.
Everyone needs to warm up.
Maybe you have been running for some time and you haven’t warmed up before most of your runs and that seems to be going just fine.
Sure, but in all cases, this is what warming up will do and improve for you.
✅Reduce the risk of injury and niggle. ( huge one )
✅Improve your running stride.
✅You will be more efficient as a runner.
✅Improved speed.
All of the things combined will make running easier.
My warm-up takes about 5-7 min
What should be included in a warm-up?
✅Mobility of key working joints but also if you have more specific needs count that in.
✅Activation of stabilising muscles like hips, glutes and core.
✅Running drills, also act as activators of running muscles and patterns. Start from the easiest drill to the hardest.
This is a post I did over in my Instagram and a question I explain quite a lot. I recorded what my warmup looks like. But, I do not mean that mine is the best for you to do. That is because you might have slightly different needs. Than what I have. But i have listed 3 key areas that I build any warm up upon.
Do you warm up?
All the best and speak soon
