What is a sign your are exercising too much? There are many signs but this one in particular is an obvious one.
So what is it? Well if you are dreading the thought of exercising, working out being physically active, that is a sign you are exercising too much. The same goes if you are just starting out with exercising and you are dreading the thought of doing the things you think you should be doing, it is also a sign you are starting out too hard and setting the bar too high.
If you are recognizing this for yourself you can take it as a sign you are exercising too much. The solution is to step back and scale down to an appropriate level. That level is individual and you know you have scaled it back enough when you don’t feel that dread of exercising.
And it does not matter how much you used to be able to do and for how long. Pushing through this most likely will not be sustainable long term and might put you off exercising for a long time.
It is of course the same for those of you who are looking to get started. Scale back on the amount and intensity you think you should be doing.
You want to build a healthy relationship with physical activity so that you have a solid foundation to relay on and then form there you can start in periods to increase amount and intensity if you want to.
All of these signs can be transferred to any healthy habit you are doing or are looking to implement.
Here is an example!
If you have decided that you want to eat healthy but the though of just eating the things you think you should eat feel like hard work and not satisfying. This is too restrictive and you are starting out too hard.
Same goes if you have been eating what you feel is health for a while but you are struggling to feel satisfaction. That is also a sign you are going at it a bit too hard.
Of course there are many reasons to why but a lot of the time it is our perception of what being healthy is and how being healthy is done.
Do you reckoning the thought, I want to make sure I’m doing it the right way. This is how much or hard it needs to be for it too be / feel effective.
For those who are keen exercises, you might recognize that feeling that you might be slacking and will loose all you fitness and strength. That though is not sitting well with you. You are certainly not lazy so you push through.
As you can tell by these examples they are going in to the the theory of a not so healthy relationship with health, exercise and nutrition.
This is why I’m on a mission to show as many people as possible that being healthy is effortless and rewarding.
You can be and feel healthy without going to the gym 5 times a week and without eating clean all the time.
I would say that when you feel healthy you are. But of course sometimes we have to work on our perfectionist mindset and not always raising the bar.
OK, over and out
