Do you feel you don’t have the same sharpness at work as before? Are you fueled with caffeine and sugar? I’ll give 5 tips on how to stay sharp at work. The huge plus side with these tips is that they will form a foundation of healthy habits. This will make a huge difference for your health and wellbeing. I know that you will feel a huge sens relife when you can fall back on this foundation even when life gets really busy.
I’m sure you know most of these 5 tips on how to stay sharp at work. But to get around to implementing them is another story. You might even feel weary about things you will have to do.
My best tip here is to pick one, start work on it and then move to the next one. Okay, so here we go!
Sleep is the foundation to everything, so make sure you get the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep. Ideally we should wake up and go to bed at the same time every day even on the weekends. Of course there are things we can do to improve our sleep quality. In this post I won’t go into much detail about sleep but here is a blog post that you can read about sleep in more detail. Can we be healthy without sleep? Also you will and can survive and function on less but the things that you can do when you get enough sleep will be so much more.
I’m a huge promoter of movement throughout the day. That’s because I know the impact it has on our health. Daily movement can be things like, valk in stairs, up the escalator, walking a longer route to work or the tube/bus. It can do some shoulder circles when you take a break from your desk. Walks are great, they are accessible for most people, you often get outside which is a huge double whammy.
Yep, even if you work in a bustling city, getting some fresh air will do wonders for your sharpness. I can’t tell you how many times I have gotten clarity on my business or anything that has needed some thought when I have been outside and moving in some form. There are studies to show how our creativity and focus improves from being outside and or walking or similar. So it’s not just my anecdotal story here.
I know that it can be hard to step away sometimes. However working long periods in one go is often much less productive than what it seems like. Why not combine a short break with some daily movement. Then you have two healthy habits that stack upon one another and integrate well with your daily life. Remember that you will most likely step back with more focus, more creativity and you will be more efficient.
I know this seems like such a common thing but it’s another key metric to performance. Often our ability to solve problems, come up with ideas, and communicate well with others gets affected by low energy levels. Remember our brain needs fuel.
So there you have my 5 tips. Nothing groundbreaking here but being healthy and performing well at your best at work really doesn’t have to be anything special. Get the foundations right and you will be feeling sharp, focused and at your best.
You will get updates when there is a new blog post up, tips and advice on how to invest in your health..
