I often get asked what the best exercises to do are. So I decided to list 5 exercises that I swear by. These exercises and variations of them are a staple in my own and my clients strength routines.
These 5 exercises are golden because
Hip raisesThis humble or not so humble exercise once you have tried it is a must do in some form. This exercise will mainly improve your glute and hamstring strength but a close second is core stability. Especially when you start to do single leg variations.
Single leg squatThis exercise can be really hard which is a plus when you need it to be. But it can easily be adjusted to your level by reducing range of movement as well. Regardless if you are working on a full range single leg squat or a shallower version it will it improve your balance. But mainly it will strengthen your glutes, hips, quads.
Side plankOh I have to say I have a hate love relation ship with this one. Its so boring and can be so hard but I know that this is a golden exercise. This one has made wonders for myself and clients. There are easier and harder versions of this one as well.
PushupA classic, but effective exercise. It mainly targets the chest, triceps and shoulders. However most of the time when people are struggling, its their core that wont keep up. The setup can be tricky with this one and to coordinate the body so that you get the right set up is sometimes a bit hard for some. But in my point of view its a great opportunity to improve body awareness.
Back raisesOk, so the last on is a back raise. There are so many variations you can do of this one. It targets the muscles in the lower back mainly but if you and anything with the arms it can target the scapula and rear deltoids. Its important to work on our back. When you don’t have equipment, this one is a great and effective exercise.
Thats all form me this time. Give these a go and try easier or harder versions if needed.
